Design on the Rocks

Freddo ATX, a well-loved coffee bar and restaurant, had recently acquired its liquor license and was launching a full bar for the first time. I was brought on to help visually establish this new chapter by designing a suite of coordinated menus and promotional pieces that would position the bar as a vibrant, welcoming space for both regulars and new patrons.

The Challenge
The Challenge
With the bar being a new addition, Freddo lacked any existing identity or structure for presenting alcoholic offerings. Their overall signage and customer communication felt outdated and disconnected from the experience they wanted to create. The goal was to introduce the bar with a strong, modern visual presence that could appeal to a younger crowd, increase engagement, and promote weekly specials and events.

My Role
My Role
As the lead designer, I:
Developed a cohesive set of menus—including Beer & Wine, Cocktails, and Cans & Bottles—that introduced the new bar offerings with a clean, engaging layout and brand-forward design.
Created standalone designs for the Happy Hour menu and Mini Cocktail menus, tailored for different use cases while maintaining a fresh visual voice.
Designed eye-catching promotional material for Whiskey Wednesday, a Western-themed weekly event, using custom illustration and nostalgic typography to help establish the event’s unique identity.

The launch of the bar was met with enthusiasm, supported by visually cohesive menus that made the new offerings feel established and easy to explore.
The updated materials contributed to increased customer interest and orders, especially during happy hour and specialty nights.
Whiskey Wednesday saw a boost in attendance and engagement, thanks in part to the distinct and playful promotional design.
